Preston and Wyre Liberal Democrats have announced their candidate for the Preston constituency in the 2017 snap General Election.
The seat will be fought by Ingol Councillor and Chairman of Ingol and Tanterton Neighbourhood Council Neil Darby.
Neil has served on Preston City Council for three years and has been actively involved with the Liberal Democrats for over ten years. He takes great interest in transport policy, and currently works in the tourism industry.
Of his selection, Neil said,
“I am delighted and honoured to have the opportunity to represent Preston in Parliament. I am tired of watching Labour failing to hold this Tory government to account. Theresa May and the Tories are pursuing a hard Brexit which is set to hurt the people of Preston.
“Meanwhile our MP has been nowhere to be seen and Labour have been too busy fighting amongst themselves to stand up for us. The Lib Dems are the only party who are fighting to bring about an open, tolerant and united Britain - and I will fight for an open, tolerant and united Preston.”
A recent poll for the Lancashire Evening Post put the Liberal Democrats as the favourite party to vote for in the upcoming General Election
