May Round-up

It’s been almost a month since the elections at the beginning of May but the pace hasn’t eased up for the Preston & Wyre Lib Dems. Here is a brief snapshot of what we’ve been up to.

Being a Councillor isn’t all knocking on doors and dealing with Casework (more on that in an upcoming article!). Sometimes we have to smarten ourselves up and attend civic functions. Your Lib Dem team turned out in force to say a fond farewell to the outgoing Mayor, Councillor Brian Rollo. Later that week we welcomed the Mayor for 2018/ 2019, Councillor Trevor Hart. In addition our Group Leader on the Council, Councillor Pauline Brown, made a wonderful speech in praise of the Councils outgoing Chief Executive, Lorraine Norris.

Our regular canvassing sessions have continued and the team have been out and about talking to residents across the city.

Councillor John Potter brought an excellent motion to Lancashire County Council asking that the council support spreading school funding fairly allowing all students from all backgrounds to benefit equally. Sadly the Conservative majority changed the motion beyond recognition but the fight for equality for all students continues. Here is the original motion.
