Residents, councillors and your Liberal Democrat Focus Team are very disappointed and angered that the number 43 bus service has been re-routed away from the vital bus stop on Mill Lane.
Local Lib Dem councillor John Potter wrote to Preston Bus pointing out that many elderly residents live in the area and that a walk to Black Bull Lane or Woodplumpton Road is not possible. As charities such as Age UK rightly point out, loneliness is now a critical problem with the elderly.
Over 1 million older people now don’t speak to a friend, neighbour or family member for at least a month.
Cllr John Potter said,
"Unfortunately the decision by Preston Bus will put further pressure on these already vulnerable group and I urge them to reconsider.
"There is a possibility that the number 80 bus could be re-routed along Mill Lane but the decision may not go in our favour especially when local Conservative councillors are in the press saying they are “delighted” with the changes."
